Estonia Signs Contract with the First Manufacturer of the Future Defence Industry Park
The Estonian Centre for Defence Investments (ECDI) and the company Nitrotol OÜ have signed a contract for the production of military explosives and ammunition, including mines and charges, in the defence industry park to be established in Ermistu, Pärnu County.
Deputy Director General of ECDI Asko Kivinuk thanked the company for the good and smooth cooperation. “Nitrotol OÜ has already started production in Ämari, and the first deliveries to the Estonian Defence Forces will arrive from there soon. The experience gained in Ämari will certainly help ensure that the new and larger production unit is completed smoothly and as quickly as possible,” said Kivinuk. “At the same time, I would like to thank ECDI’s partner notary office for their utmost precision and thoroughness in preparing such complex contracts,” he added.
In the first phase, four companies will be able to establish their factories in the defence industry park being developed in Ermistu, Pärnu County: Nitrotol OÜ, Frankenburg Technologies OÜ, Infinitum Strike OÜ, and Thor Industries Ltd via its Estonia-registered subsidiary Odin Defence OÜ.

The Swedish Maritime Administration and Ports of Stockholm are taking a historic step by establishing a joint maritime traffic centre in Stockholm. The co-operation will enhance the efficiency and safety of vessel traffic from Oxelösund in the south and up along the entire northern coast of Sweden. In early March, the parties signed a cooperation agreement that marks the start of a groundbreaking initiative. The traffic centres of the Swedish Maritime Administration and Ports of Stockholm will form a joint maritime traffic centre at the Värtahamnen port in Stockholm.

Sunly, in collaboration with Metsagrupp, is developing a 16 MW / 32 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) next to the 45 MW Raba solar park. The total project cost is €7 million, and it will be built without subsidies. Construction is set to begin this summer, with completion expected in early 2026.
The construction permit for the Raba battery park, located in Pärnumaa, was obtained in January, and work will commence in the coming months. The 16 MW battery can store 32 MWh of electricity over two hours, ensuring that solar energy can be used even when the sun is not shining.
