Rimi Baltic signs share purchase agreement to acquire Havi Logistics in the Baltics
SIA Rimi Baltic has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire 100% of Havi Logistics SIA, marking a significant step toward strengthening its supply chain capabilities across the Baltic region.
The transaction is currently subject to approval by the Competition Council.
Rimi Baltic is acquiring Havi Logistic SIA, which owns shares of Havi Logistics UAB and Havi Logistics OU in all three Baltic countries, including approximately 800 employees who will join the Rimi Baltic Group.

Gasgrid Finland has published its first hydrogen information package. It aims to meet the market’s information needs on the development of the Finnish hydrogen network and the principles of access and operation. The information package contains, among other things, Gasgrid’s current view on the development of the market, the principles of grid access and the market model for hydrogen pipeline transmission. It also facilitates the collection of feedback from market participants on market needs for network operation and market rules and supports market dialogue from the early stages of market formation.
As we are creating a whole new infrastructure, ecosystem and industry, and a lot is happening in the industry at the same time, Gasgrid considers an active market dialogue and participatory process to be very valuable. Starting from 9 September 2025, trading on the Baltic and Finnish gas markets will shift from the GET Baltic platform to the European Energy Exchange (EEX).
The change will enable Estonian market participants to strengthen their connection with the Baltic and Finnish markets and gain access to European markets, including the possibility to trade with Contract for Difference (CfD) between these markets. For consumers, this means that gas prices in Estonia will follow European price trends more closely. With the help of CfD, gas sellers will be able to better hedge their risks, which should reduce sales margins.
“As a result of successful cooperation between the gas exchanges EEX and GET Baltic, as well as between Elering and other Baltic/Finnish transmission system operators, we will continue offering implicit capacity allocation, which ensures greater liquidity and better price convergence between the Finnish-Baltic gas market areas,” said Airi Noor, Head of Market Development at Elering.

Today, as part of the second year of the NATO DIANA innovation accelerator, the companies selected for the programme’s next phase were announced. A total of 2613 companies applied to join the second cohort of NATO DIANA, of which 73 were chosen for the first phase – including two Estonian startups. Each team selected for phase two will receive up to €300 000 from NATO DIANA, in addition to the €100 000 grant funding awarded in the first phase.
Seven companies took part in the programme at the NATO DIANA Estonian accelerator, including two Estonian firms – Wayren and Telearmy. Now, as only 15 companies from across the alliance move forward to the second phase, three of them are teams accelerated their growth in Estonia’s accelerator, including both Estonian startups. Alongside the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, Estonia is one of the only countries represented by two or more firms, giving Estonia one of the strongest showings among NATO nations in the second phase.
“I am very pleased to see Estonia’s contribution to NATO DIANA stand out so strongly. The fact that three teams accelerated here – including two of our own defence industry companies – have advanced to the next stage shows how quickly Estonian entrepreneurs can adapt, act and seize opportunities. Since July, when the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) began implementing the second round of the digitalization support program, the total funding of which is 18.5 million euros, 5.4 million euros have been reserved and entrepreneurs will be able to apply for the program until the support funds are available.
“Digitalization and the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions are one of the ways to increase the competitiveness of the Latvian economy, therefore it is a special pleasure that the majority, or 4.28 million euros, of the currently reserved funds in this program are intended specifically for projects in the field of artificial intelligence. We will most likely accept applications in this program at least until the end of this year,” emphasizes LIAA Director Ieva Jāgere.
A total of 285 applications have been received in the program so far, including 66 for the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions.

This year, at one of the world’s largest and most significant defence and security industry exhibitions, DSEI, Latvia will be represented with its largest-ever delegation of participants, with drone manufacturers especially to the fore. The Latvian business delegation will showcase aerial, ground, surface, and underwater drones, as well as anti-drone systems, while the Latvian company VicTec will stage water drone demonstration shows on the River Thames during the exhibition.
Also on display at the Latvian delegation’s stand will be a range of products essential to the defence and security sector, including tactical clothing, optical and training equipment, chemical, logistics and pyrotechnic solutions, and metalworking products.

CINEA has signed a grant agreement worth €645.2 million under the CEF Energy programme to support the Danish side of the Bornholm Energy Island (BEI) Hybrid Offshore Interconnector – one of Europe’s most ambitious and strategic energy infrastructure projects.
The grant signature ceremony took place on 4 September 2025 in Copenhagen, during the Informal meeting of energy ministers, marking a significant step towards a more resilient, interconnected, and sustainable European energy system.
Connecting offshore wind to millions of consumers
Led by Energinet (Denmark) and 50Hertz (Germany), this innovative and visionary project will connect multiple wind farms together via a single offshore energy hub on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. From there, 3 GW of offshore green electricity will be brought onshore and distributed through Denmark and Germany, helping to power millions of homes and businesses with clean electricity.
To make this possible, CEF Energy is funding the construction of two new converter stations (one on Bornholm and one in Zealand), and the installation of an extensive submarine cable system of around 200 kilometres, complemented by a 17-kilometre onshore connection, between Zealand and Bornholm. This infrastructure will serve as a crucial bridge between offshore generation and consumers, enabling electricity to flow flexibly where it is needed most. This innovative setup supports energy security, price stability, and the integration of renewable energy on a much larger scale than before.

The joint Danish-German Bornholm Energy Island project is moving from the planning and development stage to the implementation stage. The two transmission system operators Energinet (Denmark) and 50Hertz (Germany) placed a joint order with Siemens Energy for the construction and turnkey delivery of four converter systems in total as well as other technical components on the Danish island Bornholm and the Danish island Zealand as well as on the German mainland. This marks the end of a six-month transition phase during which the joint project had to be paused due to the need for political regulation between the two countries involved.
The contract that is now concluded between Energinet, 50Hertz and Siemens Energy covers the design, the completion, transport, installation, testing as well as commissioning of the systems by the mid-2030s.

Energinet, the Danish transmission system operator (TSO), has selected NKT to provide the 525 kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) on- and offshore power cable systems for the Danish connection to the Bornholm Energy Island. The contract has a value of around EUR 650m and comprises design, manufacturing, and installation of a power cable system comprising 200 km offshore route and 16.8 km onshore route.
