Baltic Prime Ministers convene in Tallinn with Rail Baltica at the centre of the agenda

Earlier today in Tallinn, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa and Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė convened for high-level discussions on regional cooperation, infrastructure and security. The meeting opened at the Rail Baltica Ülemiste terminal, where the three heads of government reviewed construction progress and debated on the strategic priorities of Rail Baltica.
Rail Baltica is the largest cross-border infrastructure project in the Baltic region and one of the most consequential investments Europe is making on its eastern flank. It integrates Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania into the European standard-gauge network, unlocks modern passenger and freight connectivity across the region, and serves a dual purpose of economic competitiveness and collective security, including military mobility in support of NATO. The shared commitment of the three governments remains firm: deliver the mainline and connect the region to Europe by 2030.

On 16 December, a ceremony was held in the Free Trade Zone at the Port of Gdańsk to inaugurate two modern warehouses belonging to Solid Port, one of the key operators in the Inner Port.
Solid Port conducts tasks like handling operations at the WOC (Free Trade Zone) Quay. As part of the new investment, on land leased from the Port of Gdańsk for 30 years, they have erected two steel-structured tent-type buildings, designed on a rectangular plan with 40×60 m base dimensions plus a ridge height of 14.5 m. The walls and roofs of the halls have been made using a durable PVC coating. These warehouses are used to store organic fertilisers.
Solid Port has a significant role in handling such bulk cargo as loose raw materials, aggregates and fertilisers. These types of cargo are essential for the functioning of many sectors of the economy, including industry, agriculture and trade. The activities of such entities make it possible to maintain the continuity of supplies of these strategic goods. It has invested consistently in the development of infrastructure and superstructure for many years, systematically raising the cargo handling standards.

MyDello, the digital freight forwarding platform dedicated to simplifying global trade, today announced it has successfully closed a €3.1 million funding round. The round was led by the Icelandic fund Frumtak Ventures, with significant follow-on participation from early investor Superhero Capital.
This new capital will be used to accelerate MyDello’s mission to transform the deeply fragmented and antiquated global logistics industry. The investment will fuel the development of advanced AI-powered solutions, drive strategic expansion into new European markets, and further enhance MyDello’s digital platform, which has already onboarded over 12,500 businesses.
The global logistics industry, valued at an estimated $6 trillion annually, has long been a bottleneck for businesses worldwide. For decades, it has operated on outdated systems involving faxes, phone calls, and mountains of physical paperwork, creating a frustratingly opaque and inefficient environment. MyDello was founded to solve this problem head-on by providing a single, digital-first platform that makes shipping goods simple, transparent, and efficient for everyone.

The Turku–Stockholm Green Shipping Corridor is one of the few routes where ambitious goals have already translated into concrete action. This is highlighted in the newly published Annual Progress Report on Green Shipping Corridors 2025, which tracks the global development of green maritime transport corridors.
In February 2024, the Ports of Turku and Stockholm together with Viking Line signed a cooperation agreement to develop a green maritime corridor between the two cities. The aim is to achieve a fully fossil-free and carbon‑neutral corridor by 2035, making it one of the Green Shipping Corridors defined under the Clydebank Declaration. The route was chosen as a pilot due to its high traffic volumes and its location in an environmentally sensitive archipelago. The cooperation provides a platform for solutions that can progressively reduce emissions and promote sustainable maritime transport.
Of the 84 global initiatives identified in the report, only four have so far reached the so‑called implementation stage, in which emission‑reducing measures are deployed in regular operations. Two of these are located in the Baltic Sea region, including the Turku–Stockholm route, which is regarded as one of the most advanced internationally.

Since 2018, Tallinn Airport has reduced carbon emissions from its operations by 96%. An audit carried out under the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) global carbon management certification programme has confirmed that the airport achieved carbon neutrality based on the actions adopted in 2024 (certified in 2025). To receive certification, the company was required to reduce its emissions by at least 90%, for us the remaining 4% – related to de-icing activities and employee business travel – permitted to be offset.
This substantial reduction in emissions represents a significant achievement, reflecting the effectiveness of the actions and commitment demonstrated by the company, its employees, and partners.
According to Anneli Turkin, Member of the Management Board of Tallinn Airport, Tallinn has for years served as a role model for other airports across Europe, particularly through its determination and tangible actions, which have now resulted in the achievement of carbon neutrality. “Since 2018, we have systematically collected data, calculated and reduced our carbon footprint, and involved our partners in the process. Everyone’s contribution has been invaluable, and the change in our employees’ behaviour has had a major impact – the CO₂e emissions per employee at Tallinn Airport have decreased from 38 tonnes to just 1.3 tonnes,” said Turkin, adding that he is extremely proud of the entire airport team.
