EU Funding for the development of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) in the Øresund Region

Project financing from Interreg Øresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak will support the establishment of a cross-border collaboration platform aimed at accelerating the use of renewable energy through CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) in the Øresund region, paving the way for the production of sustainable fuels.

Building on a successful pre-project focused on mapping specific areas of action, the initiative now moves from analysis to implementation with a three-year project, bringing together Danish and Swedish strengths in a Center of Excellence. The ambition is to make CCUS an integrated, cross-border element of the energy system, where captured biogenic CO₂ is combined with green hydrogen and renewable energy to produce fuels for shipping and aviation.

Latvia Sets Investment Record: Over €1 Billion in FDI Attracted in 2025

By Investment and Development Agency of Latvia 16 January 2026

In 2025, with the involvement of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), the implementation of 31 investment projects was launched. The total value of these projects reached €1.01 billion, and 1,350 new jobs will be created. The largest projects last year were related to bioeconomy, smart energy, high-value-added manufacturing, ICT, and other sectors.

Minister for Economics Viktors Valainis: “Latvia aims to be among the most attractive investment destinations in the region, and LIAA’s results in 2025 confirm this—the Agency has attracted the highest investment volume in a single year in Latvia’s history. It is particularly significant that data from the Bank of Latvia show that in the first three quarters of 2025, the total volume of foreign investment increased by €700 million. This means Latvia can and does compete. Our task is to continue improving the business environment, removing obstacles, and ensuring investors have a clear, fast path from concept to implementation.”

Skene raises €800,000 to turn software products into growth engines

By Superhero Capital 16 January 2026

Helsinki-based product growth automation platform Skene announces it has closed a €800,000 pre-seed round led by Superhero Capital and with participation from NVIDIA executives. With its first agent already live, Skene CEO Teemu Kinos, Co-Founder of GetJenny, aims to use the funds to cross €1M ARR and expand their offering to support growth across the full user journey by spring 2026.

The rapid acceleration of software development via AI has led to a $113 billion problem: the gap between building a product and achieving commercial success. With 42% of startups missing the market entirely and up to 53% of SaaS applications going unused or underutilised, this execution gap translates into over $113 billion in annual wasted venture investment in viable products that fail to drive essential growth outcomes such as activation, feature adoption, and retention.
